Men's Volleyball Rallies from Two Sets Down to Top NYU-Polytechnic

BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The York College men's volleyball team rallied from two sets down to top NYU-Polytechnic 3-2 (20-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 15-13) on Monday night.
York's Edner Junior Geffard had a huge night, slamming a match-high 20 kills and blocking nine shots in the five-set marathon, while hitting at a .324 percentage.
Jon Peter Sardea did a great job of setting up the kills, picking up 50 assists on the evening to go along with five digs.
Bryan Williams added 14 kills and a team-high nine digs, while
Tobi Awopetu recorded eight blocks and six kills. Jhonnatan Fernandez was very efficient on the night, slamming nine kills in eleven attempts, (.727) while assisting on two blocks.
The Cardinals needed every one of those points, as they won the fourth set by just a three-point margin and the deciding set by a two-point margin.
NYU-Poly was led by Nick Cervasio who finished with 16 kills and by Fild Kroqi who had 14 kills. Stefan Leger had an incredible 15 blocks, with ten of the solo variety.
With the win, the Cardinals pick up their first win of the season and improve to 1-1 on the year. NYU-Polytechnic falls to 0-4. York will return to action on Thursday when they visit Yeshiva University at 8:00 p.m.
