PURCHASE, NY— The York College softball team closed the 2011 season on a high note as they routed the College of New Rochelle in a pair of games Friday afternoon, winning game one by a score of 9-1 and game two 23-6.

Game one was decided by the top of the second when York put up seven runs, thanks in part to some spotty defense by the Blue Angels.   York only managed three hits in the inning but benefitted from six New Rochelle errors.  Most of the runs in the inning were scored on errors but the one big hit came off the bat of Thessaly Belizario who smacked a two-run double to cap the scoring.

York later added two more runs in the third inning when Aileen Abad singled home two runs to round out the York scoring for game one.

Pitcher Michelle DeLeon was dominant on the mound, taking a perfect game into the fourth inning.  The perfect game was broken up on an infield single.  She would later allow two more hits and a run in the fifth inning.

Game two proved to be another blowout as York put up a crooked number in every inning en route to scoring its highest run total of the season.   The Lady Cardinals pounded out 19 hits and earned 13 walks in the game.  Every starter reached base and seven of the nine batters had multi-hit games.

A pair of seniors playing in their final game—Chiquita Greene and Phylicia Harrison—led the way for York.  Harrison was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and 4 RBIs and Greene was 2-5 with two runs and 4 RBIs.   Jennifer Duverge had her best game of the season, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored and Belizaro was 3-4 with four runs and an RBI.   Abad was 3-for-5 with two runs and Danielle Dunn and Joviette Frederick each picked up a pair of hits.  Michelle Deleon earned the win once again, going five innings and striking out six, while allowing four earned runs.

York closes the 2011 season with a record of 7-23.
