BRONXVILLE, NY— The York College softball team picked up a pair of victories on Friday afternoon, as they routed Sarah Lawrence College by scores of 9-1 and 10-1.  York pitcher Michelle Deleon pitched both games to lead York to the sweep.

York held a narrow 1-0 lead going into the fifth inning of game one when they exploded for five runs in the top half of the frame.   With two runners on and no one out in the inning, Joviette Frederick singled home the first run of the inning.  After a walk loaded the bases, Danielle Dunn singled home two more runs to make the score 4-0 in favor of York.  Thessaly Belizario also added an RBI single and the final run of the inning scored on an error to give the Lady Cardinals a 6-0 advantage.   After adding a run in the sixth, York tacked on two more runs following a two-run single by Chiquita Greene.

Dunn finished game one going 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead York at the plate.  Deleon tossed a complete game, striking out two and scattering seven hits.

In game two, York once again was in a tight ballgame, leading 3-1 going into the fifth inning, and just like game one, the Lady Cardinals put a five-spot up on the board.   After Frederick doubled to lead off the inning, a misplay by Sarah Lawrence allowed the first run of the inning to score.   Following a walk, Belizario doubled home two runs to give York a 6-1 cushion.   York added two more runs in the frame after an RBI groundout by Liza Rivera and a RBI single Chiquita Greene.  The Lady Cardinals added two more runs in the sixth thanks to a two-run double by Liza Rivera.

Krystina Rivera led York in game two, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Belizario finished the day going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.  Deleon once again earned the victory, tossing five innings, allowing just five hits and striking out four.
