Staten Island Blanks York in Doubleheader

Box Score Game One
Box Score Game Two

QUEENS, NY— The York College softball team lost a pair of games by identical scores to the College of Staten Island, losing each game 11-0.

Staten Island (22-10, 13-0) pitching stifled the York bats holding them to a combined six hits in the two games.  CSI, meanwhile, banged out 22 hits in the doubleheader off York pitching.  Poor defense by York also played a factor as five errors in each game led to five runs being unearned in each contest.

CSI's Stephanie Solari led the Dolphins with a home run in game two and four scoreless innings pitched in a pair of relief appearances.  Dolphin's pitcher Danielle Ponsiglione struck out seven batters in just three innings of work to earn the win in game one.  York was led by Danielle Dunn, who had two hits in the doubleheader.

York (3-21, 2-10 CUNYAC) will host Baruch on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Cunningham Park.
