Softball Drops Two to St. Joseph’s (BK)

BELLEROSE, NY— The York College softball team dropped a pair of games to St. Joseph's College (BK) Saturday afternoon, losing by scores of 8-0 and 10-1 respectively. 


Game One Recap I Box Score

The Lady Bears opened the scoring in the top of the first when Danielle Marino hit a one-out home run in the top of the first.  They would add three runs in the second and two in the third and led 6-0 after three innings of play.  St. Joseph's would add two more runs and won in a five-inning shortened game.

 

York was held to just three hits on the day by Lady Bear's pitcher Alyson Chiaramonte who struck out ten in the shutout victory. 

 


Game Two Recap I Box Score

The Lady Bears jumped out to a 6-1 cushion after the bottom of the first inning.  St. Joseph's took advantage of five walks by York pitching and knocked three hits to bring home the additional runs.  York got on the board in the top-half of the inning when Chiquita Greene singled home Joviette Frederick, who singled to lead off the game.

 

The Lady Bears Lisa Scheer went five innings, allowing five hits and striking out three to earn the victory in game two.

 

St. Joseph's improves to 9-3, while York falls to 1-7.  The Lady Cardinals will host Brooklyn College in their conference opener on Monday at 3:00 p.m.
