York Falls in Three Sets to Wentworth Institute

JAMAICA, NY— Wentworth Institute of Technology came into town Saturday afternoon and defeated the York College men's volleyball team by a score of 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-15).
Wentworth took control of each set and was never threatened in the match. The Leopards were led by Derek Portugal who recorded eight kills (.312) and had seven digs. Ross Burdett had a match-high nine digs (.615) for Wentworth.
York was led by freshman Terrence Sutton who picked up seven kills and three digs. Junior Jhonnattan Fernandez and freshman Maximo Bonilla each added four kills apiece, while freshman Ivan Rivera led the team with five digs.
Wentworth now improves to an impressive 17-6 on the year, while York drops to 11-12. The Cardinals will return to action on Tuesday when they entertain conference-rival Lehman College at 7:00 p.m. York will look to avenge a loss earlier in the season to the Lightning.
