Sutton and Helmi Lead York to Straight Set Win Over Yeshiva

JAMAICA, NY— York College freshman Terrence Sutton slammed 12 kills and had a .474 hitting percentage and Ahmed Helmi recorded 13 kills (.318) and served up six aces to lead York to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-21) victory over Yeshiva University Wednesday evening.
After York won the first set easily, Yeshiva held leads midway through both the second and third sets. York was able to rally back both times, thanks in large part to the serving of Helmi. With York trailing 17-16 in the second set, Helmi served up three consecutive aces to put York on top. York held the lead for the remainder of the set.
Also contributing for York was setter Kenan Kajtezovic who had 28 assists and Ivan Rivera who served up five aces. Yeshiva was led by Raphael Herskovits who had seven kills and six digs.
With the win, York improves to 8-9, while Yeshiva drops to 2-2. The Cardinals will be back in action tomorrow when they host conference-foe CCNY at 7:00 p.m.
