Cardinals Drop Four Matches at Mt. Olive Tournament

MT. OLIVE, NC— The York College men's volleyball team competed at the Mount Olive College invitational on Friday and Saturday in Mount Olive, North Carolina.   The Cardinals were defeated in the four matches they played. On Friday, York fell to host Mt. Olive 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-21) and Limestone College 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-13).  On Saturday, they lost again to Mt. Olive 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-15) and fell to Pfeiffer University 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-14).

Friday Recap

York was led by Ahmed Helmi in both games, as he picked up six kills per contest.  Alex Niles combined for nine kills in two games and Scott Luna had 15 assists and 13 assists in the two matches.  Terrence Sutton led the team in digs for both matches, picking five digs and seven digs respectively.

Saturday Recap

On Saturday, Helmi once again led the team in kills, picking up five kills against Mt. Olive and eight versus Pfeiffer.  Sutton slammed seven kills against Mt. Olive and then digged seven balls against Pfeiffer.  Luna combined for 30 assists in the two matches.

The four losses drop York's record to 7-9.  They will visit Rutgers Newark on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
