#6 William Paterson Too Much for York Women’s Basketball

WAYNE, N.J.—William Paterson University, ranked sixth in the latest D3hoops.com women's basketball poll, proved to be too strong for the York College women's basketball team Monday, as they defeated the Cardinals by a score of 90-40 on Monday evening.
The Pioneers had four players reach double figures, led by Floriana Borova who had netted 19 points, handed out ten assists, grabbed seven rebounds and swiped seven steals. William Paterson was difficult to defend all night, as they shot 47 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Cardinals by a 52-30 margin, which led to 18 second-chance points.
The Cardinals actually came out strong, taking an early 8-4 leads after consecutive lay-ups by
Stayce Kay Muirhead and
Vania St. Louis. Things turned quickly though, as WPU opened up a 15-0 run to make the score 19-8. William Paterson continued to expand its lead from there, going up 20 at halftime and then doubling that advantage in the second half.
The Cardinals were led by
Shadae Rice, who finished with 19 points. St. Louis added eight points and five boards.
William Paterson improves to 9-0 with the win, while York drops to 0-9. The Cardinals will host Ramapo College on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. It will be their final game before winter break.
