STATEN ISLAND, N.Y—The College of Staten Island outscored the York College women's basketball team 36-17 in the second half and turned a four-point game at halftime into a rout as the Dolphins went on to defeat the Cardinals by a score of 64-41 in the first CUNY Athletic Conference game of the year on Thursday evening.

York looked strong in the early-going as they jumped out to an 8-2 advantage following a jumper by Lateefah Salters.  York continued to hold on to a slight lead for much of the first half until the 7:00 mark when CSI's Katelyn Hepworth got three points the hard way, converting a three-point play to take a 19-18 lead.  The Dolphins built off that momentum, scoring the next six points to take a 27-21 lead, following a three-pointer by Nicole Quatrocchi.  York would close to within four by halftime.

In the second half, CSI jumped out of the gate, scoring the first eight points to quickly go up by 13 points (37-24).  Nikki Fabozzi started the half with a lay-up and after two minutes of scoreless basketball, CSI got another three-point play, this time from Katelyn Hepworth.  Fabozzi then scored baskets on the next two possessions to cap off the run.

Leading by 16 points (49-33) with seven minutes to play, the Dolphins put the game well out of reach, scoring ten unanswered to go up by 26 points with 4:19 to play.

Despite the loss, York's Joanna Josama recorded a double-double scoring a game-high 20 points, while also grabbing 15 rebounds.  Shadae Rice added ten points and seven boards and Stayce Kay Muirhead grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.  CSI was led Fabozzi who netted 17 points.

The loss drops York's record to 0-5, 0-1 in the CUNYAC, while CSI improves to 4-2, 1-0 in CUNYAC play.  York will host St. Joseph's College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
