BROOKLYN
, NY— The York College softball team dropped a pair of games to Brooklyn College Wednesday, losing game one 14-0 and game two 9-8.  The Bulldogs took game two in their final at-bat, scoring the winning run on an error in the bottom of the seventh.

With the score tied at 8-8 in the bottom of the seventh of game two, Brooklyn's Samantha Lombardi reached base to lead off the inning and then promptly stole second.  One out later, Brooklyn's Annie Brown ground out to second base. During the play, Lombardi made a break for third. York' Thessaly Bellizario threw the ball to third base but the throw went wild, allowing Brown to score the winning run.

The Lady Cardinals had overcame an early 4-0 deficit by scoring five runs in the second and three in the third to take an 8-6 lead after three innings.  The big hit came from Brittany Patalano who laced a two-run double in the bottom of the second. Patalano went 2-4 with three RBI's to lead York.

Brooklyn then tied the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs on Lombardi RBI double and a fielder's choice.

Also contributing for York was Joviette Frederick who went 1-4 with two RBI's and Meriem Alahiane who was 2-3 with a run scored.  Renita Raghubir pitched a complete game, allowing five earned runs and striking out three.

The first game lacked the drama of the nightcap as Brooklyn pitcher Nicole Barrasso pitched a no-hitter, striking out nine batters in a five-inning game.  The Bulldogs pounded out eight hits and 14 runs in the rout.

With the loss, York drops to 0-6 on the season, while Brooklyn improves to 7-3.
