York Closes Regular Season with Pair of Losses at NJCU Tri-Match

JAMAICA, NY— The York College men's volleyball team wrapped up the regular season Sunday afternoon, dropping matches to Stevenson University and New Jersey City University in a tri-match at NJCU. The Cardinals fell to Stevenson 3-0 (30-17, 30-13, 30-17) and lost to NJCU 3-0 (30-13, 30-11, 30-24).
York ends the regular season with a record of 13-18 and will now focus on its CUNY Athletic Conference Quarterfinal match with CCNY on Tuesday. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the York College Gymnasium.
Stevenson Recap
Stevenson's Justin Matkowski slammed ten kills and had a .533 hitting percentage to lead the Mustangs. Kyle Diller also added a match-high 28 assists. Stevenson improved to 11-13 with the win.
Fork York, Arturo Cabrera Jr. slammed a team-high six kills, while Aruni Piantini led the team with 11 assists and four digs. Brian Francisco blocked a match-high five shots.
NJCU Recap
NJCU's Jose Matta had a huge match, slamming 12 kills, without recording and error (.667), while also adding five digs and two blocks. NJCU improved to 16-8 with the win.
York's Bryan Williams recorded a team-high nine kills, to go along with eight digs. Aruni Piantini had a match-high nine digs for the Cardinals.
