York Edged by Lehman in Five Sets

JAMAICA, NY— Lehman College rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the York College men's volleyball team in five sets, 3-2 (30-24, 29-31, 19-30, 30-21 15-5), in a CUNY Athletic Conference match Tuesday evening.
It was an exciting contest with momentum swings on both sides. Already down a set, the Cardinals found themselves facing a set point in the second set. However York fought off the set point and rallied to win 31-29 to even up the match. The Cardinals then looked to have momentum after they took the third set rather easily. However the Lightning regrouped to take sets four and five.
Lehman's RJ LeBlanc led all players with 22 kills to go along with seven digs and four blocks. Nate Martin had 18 kills, ten digs and six aces.
For York, Brian Francisco recorded a team-high 11 kills, while also blocking seven shots. Aruni Piantini had 23 assists and 14 digs and Bryan Williams added nine kills and 12 digs.
With the loss York drops to 7-4, 3-1 in the CUNYAC. Lehman improves to 4-4, 2-3 in the CUNYAC. York will visit Hunter College on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
