York Drops Two Tough Matches to #1 Baruch

JAMAICA, NY— The York College men's volleyball played two tough matches against Baruch College, the top-ranked team in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) but came out on the losing end both times. York dropped the first match 3-1 (30-18, 26-30, 30-10, 30-16) and lost 3-1 (30-13, 28-30, 30-16, 30-14).

 

Despite the loss, the Cardinals made a strong showing by taking a set in each of the two matches.  The Cardinals are the only conference team to take a set from Baruch this season.  Leading the way for York was Bryan Williams who slammed ten kills in the second match and added four blocks combined between the two matches.  #Arturo Cabrera Jr.# added eight kills in the first match and seven in the second.  Brian Francisco added eight digs and four kills in the opening match.

 

Baruch was led by Sequiel Sanchez who banged 14 kills and nine kills in the two matches respectively.  The Bearcats improved to 16-2, 6-0 in the CUNYAC, while York fell to 7-11, 3-5 in the CUNYAC. 

 

York will take on Medgar Evers and Brooklyn in a multi-match this Saturday at Hunter College beginning at 11:00 a.m.
