Men’s Volleyball Drops Two Matches to Hunter College

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The York College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to conference-rival Hunter College on Thursday evening.  The Cardinals lost the first match 3-0 (30-21, 30-23, 30-11) and then dropped the second match 3-0 (30-11, 30-28, 30-15).

 

Despite the loss York (7-6, 3-3 CUNYAC) was led by Bryan Williams who finished with four kills in game one and eight kills in game two.  Arturo Cabrera Jr. banged eight kills and Brian Francisco slammed six in the first match, while Alex Niles recorded six kills in the second match.  

 

Hunter (8-4, 6-0 CUNYAC) got a strong effort from Christopher Newcomb who slammed a match-high 17 kills in the first match and then followed up with 14 in the second.  Setter Carl Skonberg recorded a match-high 43 assist in the first match.

 

York will now travel to North Carolina for the Pfeiffer University Tournament taking place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
