Women's Swimming Falls to Hunter
JAMAICA, NY— The York College women's swimming team fell to Hunter College by a score of 117-63 in its conference opener Tuesday evening. Despite the loss, York did pick up victories in three events, with two coming from junior Averie Mohammed.
Mohammed was victorious in both the 200-meter individual medley and the 100-freestyle. Both races were exciting finishes as Mohammed narrowly bested Hunter swimmers at the wall in each race.
The other first-place finish for York came in the 50-freestyle where Ayanna Bennett defeated a field of five swimmers to earn the victory.
York, 0-2, 0-2 in the CUNYAC will return to action on November 18, when they host Brooklyn College at 6:00 p.m.
