JAMAICA, NY— The York College softball team struggled with their defense and it cost them as the Lady Cardinals dropped two games to Elmira College, losing 13-1 and 19-0 respectively.  

Poor defense by the Lady Cardinals allowed Elmira to plate 32 runs combined, with only 11 of those runs being earned. Elmira also pounded out 11 hits in game one and eight in game two which led to the lopsided score.  

York scored its lone run of the day on an RBI single by Wisam Mohamed in the bottom of the fourth.

Elmira's Lauryn DePaul turned in a big day going 1-4 with two runs and two RBI's in game one and 1-2 with four runs and three RBI's in game two.  

With the loss York falls to 0-15 on the season, while Elmira improves to 9-7.  York will host Lehman College in a CUNYAC doubleheader on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
