York Loses Two Games to Mount Saint Vincent

BRONX, NY— The York College softball team lost a pair of games to the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday evening. York lost 9-1 in game one and 11-6 in the nightcap. After taking game one easily, Mount Saint Vincent rallied with a six-run sixth inning to take game two.
Game Two Recap
With score 6-5, in favor of York, the Lady Cardinals were two innings away from its first win of the season when things began to unravel. After York pitcher Renita Raghubir struck out the first batter of the sixth inning, Mount Saint Vincent put runners on second and third after a double and an error. The Dolphins Marni O'Shea then singled home two runs to give MSV the lead for good. The Dolphins would tack on four more runs in the inning thanks to two-run doubles by Karissa Koerner and Jillian Troncoso. MSV then shut down York in the top of the seventh to get the win.
York was led by Shanay Patalano who went 2-5 with a run scored. #Meriem Alahaine#, Sharlene Salazar, Christie Ramiah and Swelly Cabello each had an RBI for the Lady Cardinals.
Game One Recap
The Lady Cardinals were stifled by Dolphins hurler Megan Gonzalez who held York to just three hits and an unearned run. York's only run of the game came in the top of the first when Brittany Patalano scored on a groundout off the bat of Geneva Faulk.
O'Shea once again turned in a big game for the Dolphins, going 2-3 and driving in four runs.
York, 0-6, will take on Brooklyn College today on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
