Box Score

STATEN ISLAND
, NY— Four Lady Cardinals reached double figures but it was not enough as the York College women's basketball team fell to the College of Staten Island, 88-79 in a CUNY Athletic Conference South Division match-up Wednesday night.

York played tough against a Staten Island team that came into the game with an unblemished, 9-0, conference record.  CSI looked to have an easy game on its hands when they held a 16 point lead, 36-20, with 6:01 to play in the first half.  However, the Lady Cardinals scored 16 of the next 19 points to cut to within just three points, 39-36, with 0:41 to play in the half.  The Dolphins would take a 43-38 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, York stayed within striking distance but could never move ahead and eventually CSI began to pull away. A lay-up by CSI's Nicole Estrada gave the Dolphins a 17 point advantage (88-71), their largest lead of the game with 3:01 to play.  The basket capped off a 12-0 run for the Dolphins.

CSI's Kristen Panariello recorded a game-high 29 points and Estrada added 21 points to lead the Dolphins.  Melanie D'Ambrosio finished with 15 points.
