Men’s Volleyball Drops Two Matches to Hunter

JAMAICA, NY— The York College men's volleyball team dropped two matches to conference-rival Hunter College Thursday evening. The Cardinals lost 3-0 (30-12, 30-11, 30-24) in the first match and 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-16) in the back end.

The Cardinals dropped the first two games by a large margin but they scratched and crawled in the third set only to lose by six points.
For York, Brian Francisco led the team with five kills, while Aruni Piantini recorded 17 assists and Stephen Vassell registered six digs.
The Hawks would be propelled by solid performances from Jerin Kallickal's 7 kills and Wojciech Jakubiak's 11 kills. Teammate Miguel Pena set up the kills during the game which enabled him to record a game-high 39 assists.
Game Two Recap
York played the Hawks much tougher in the second contest but still came up short. Francisco led York with eight kills, while Vassell added seven. Piantini finished with 18 assists and five digs and Roger Subervi had a match-high ten digs.
Kallickal led the Hawks with 16 kills to go along with seven digs, and Jakubiak finished with 13 kills and ten digs.
Hunter improves to 12-7, 6-0 in the CUNYAC, while York falls to 3-10, 2-5 in the CUNYAC.
York will host Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
