NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College sophomore Stephanie Gonzalez has been named a CUNYAC Women's Soccer Preseason Player to Watch, the league office announced Monday.

Following a record-setting debut season in which she led CUNYAC with 10 goals and 21 points, Gonzalez also established a York single-match program record with seven goals in a 9-0 triumph over Keystone College (Sept. 24).

The Brooklyn native recorded multiple-goal contributions in victories over the University of Valley Forge (Sept. 20) and Yeshiva University (Nov. 4). Her standout freshman campaign included one CUNYAC Player of the Week honor, two CUNYAC Rookie of the Week citations, and one CUNYAC Player of the Week Honorable Mention.

At the conclusion of the season, Gonzalez was named CUNYAC Rookie of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference honors, becoming the first student-athlete in program history to receive both distinctions.

As a team, the Cardinals were picked to finish fifth in the CUNYAC preseason coaches' poll.

As the two-time defending CUNYAC champions, John Jay topped the preseason coaches' poll with 25 points and five first-place votes. CCNY received the remaining first-place vote and finished second with 20 points, while the Cardinals totaled nine points.  York will play a five-match CUNYAC schedule, beginning with a road matchup at CCNY on Oct. 7.

The 2026 CUNYAC Championship will take place on October 31 (semifinals) and November 7 (finals), with the league champion receiving an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

The Cardinals are scheduled to open the 2026 season September 5 against SUNY Old Westbury in a home non-conference contest from York College Outdoor Athletic Complex starting at 12 p.m.
