JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College head men's basketball coach Clarence Emengo announced Thursday the commitment of Seddig Etorki ahead of the 2026-27 season. 

Etorki brings vast playing experience in his native Libya, competing in their youth setup at the U-14, U-16, U-18, and U-20 levels. He has found success at the junior level, becoming a U-14 and U-16 national champion, claiming MVP honors at both age levels. The promising talent has also reached the country's first division. Finishing off his high school career for the Broome Street Academy Warriors, Etorki helped the squad win the 2026 CSN High School Basketball Championship. 

"York College felt like the right place for me to continue my journey both academically and athletically. I wanted to be part of a program that values hard work, character, and excellence. Wearing the Cardinal jersey is an opportunity to compete at a high level, represent my family and my country with pride, and contribute to building something special." - Seddig Etorki

On the court, the Libyan is a long-range shooter who can also drive to the basket and find open teammates. Academically, Etorki was a High Honor Roll student at Broome Street Academy and will study business administration at York College.

Etorki is the first of York's recruiting class to be announced. In the coming weeks, we will learn more about the program's Cardinal commitments for the new season.
