JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College completed upgrades to the Health & Physical Education Complex Gymnasium ahead of the 2025–26 academic year. The Cardinals' home court for men's and women's basketball, as well as men's and women's volleyball, underwent significant facility improvements aimed at creating an inclusive, welcoming environment that better serves the diverse needs of all facility users. These upgrades resulted in a fresh new glow to the playing surface and the installation of LED lighting—bringing a vibrant new energy to the facility.
 
Before receiving a new finish, sections of the 17,280 sq. ft. hardwood floor were repaired and reconstructed with new maple flooring. The court refinishing was completed by Atlantic Sport Floors, a company with over 20 years of experience in installing and maintaining athletic flooring systems. Atlantic Sport Floors services a wide range of organizations throughout the Northeast, including public and private schools, NCAA basketball programs, fitness and recreational centers, dance academies, community theatres, aerobics studios, and more.

The LED lighting upgrade provides York College with an energy-efficient solution that offers bright, uniform illumination while maximizing energy savings. It plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall gymnasium experience, both on the hardwood and the indoor track. The lighting system is designed for high lumen output, ensuring that every corner of the gym is well-lit. This improved visibility promotes better athletic performance, creates a more visually appealing environment, and helps reduce the risk of accidents or injuries.
