NEW YORK --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has accepted Albertus Magnus College as an affiliate member in men's and women's tennis, effective the 2025-26 academic year.
The Falcons will bring the CUNYAC to seven tennis-playing institutions, as Albertus Magnus joins Baruch College, Brooklyn College, Hunter College, John Jay College, Lehman College and York College. Albertus Magnus will be immediately eligible for the CUNYAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championships and the conference's automatic qualification to the NCAA championships as well as weekly award and All-Star recognition.
"We are excited to be able to offer a positive student-athlete experience for Albertus Magnus' tennis student-athletes, including championship opportunities." said CUNYAC Commissioner Dr. Kurt Patberg. "Adding AMC in men's and women's tennis continues our strategic process to bolster our membership with like-minded, high quality institutions in proximity to New York City competing at the Division III level that will enhance our conference and the overall experience it offers our student-athletes and coaches."
Albertus Magnus, located in New Haven, Connecticut, primarily competes in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and sponsors a total of 18 NCAA Division III sports. The Falcons have routinely competed against CUNYAC opponents in men's and women's tennis in recent seasons.
"Albertus Magnus College is excited and grateful for the opportunity to compete in the CUNYAC as an affiliate member in women's and men's tennis." said Michael Kobylanski, Albertus Magnus Director of Athletics. "Tennis has been an integral part of our intercollegiate offerings at Albertus dating back to our inaugural NCAA campaign in 1990, and it has recreational roots on our campus going back to our founding year of 1925. Our programs have regularly competed against CUNYAC members in non-conference action over the years. We are appreciative for the ability to now compete against them in conference play."
