In a tradition that began when the conference was first founded in 1986-87, the CUNYAC annually recognizes four of its graduating student-athletes, rich in both academics and athletics, as its Scholar-Athletes of the Year. In 2024-25, the two student-athletes to earn the distinct honor were Ava Deguzman (Baruch College) and Conor Sullivan (Hunter College).
Maryam Khan has constructed a 3.772 grade-point average as a Nursing major at York College. Cited on the Dean's List six times, the 2023 CUNYAC Women's Tennis Preseason Player to Watch took the court for three seasons (2022-24) as a Cardinal, competing in 21 matches, including on the Nos. 3-6 singles courts and in all three doubles positions. Residing in the Jamaica section of Queens, the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Tennis Academic All-District® Team honoree posted doubles wins in each of her three seasons and claimed victories twice during the 2023 season in third and sixth singles. To cap off her career in 2024, the three-time CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection was recognized as York's second-consecutive CUNYAC Women's Tennis Sportsmanship Award winner. Khan, who was also a member of the 2022 women's volleyball team, has previously served in leadership roles as President of the York College Nursing Club, student advocate for NACLI (National Coalition Against Censorship), and as a club member of both Nursing and the CUNY Coalition for Students with Disabilities (CCSD).
Competing as a member of the men's cross country, swimming, and track & field (indoor and outdoor) teams during his time at York College,
Richard Reyes has compiled a 3.30 grade-point average as a Movement Science major with a minor in Education. The two-time Dean's List honoree was recognized as a CUNYAC Men's Track & Field Sportsmanship Team selection for the indoor and outdoor 2025 seasons. He also earned a CUNYAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honorable Mention citation in his first season with the program. Hailing from the Bronx, Reyes accumulated 15 CUNYAC Indoor Championship points by medaling in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) with a second-place finish, in addition to his performances in the mile and 3,000-meter events. He collected another eight points in the conference year-end outdoor meet by anchoring the men's 4x400-meter relay and finishing third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The one-time CUNYAC Men's Swimmer of the Week Honorable Mention award winner competed in nine meets during his lone season on the men's swimming team in 2023-24, accounting for all 12 of York's points at the CUNYAC Championships with a trio of fifth-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, and 1,650-yard freestyle events. Reyes also competed in five meets as a member of the cross country team in 2024, leading York as the top performer in four of them, including earning a pair of top-10 finishes. He closed out the season with a 16th-place result, pacing the Cardinals at the CUNYAC Championship meet.
Stanley Sanchez has generated a 3.842 grade-point average as an Occupational Therapy major while competing for three seasons as a member of both the men's soccer and volleyball programs at York College.
