Alicia Gumbs closed out her storied four-year career with 1,316 points

NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College senior Alicia Gumbs added to her list of accolades Monday, as the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) named the fourth-year guard an All-Met Women's Basketball Honorable Mention selection. Gumbs, one of seven CUNYAC honorees, becomes York's first All-Met distinction since Mac-Dege Dessources earned third-team recognition in 2022 and 2023. The 2024–25 All-Met teams will be honored at the 92nd MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on April 24 at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, New York. The Haggerty Dinner is the longest-running, media-managed college basketball awards program in the United States.

Following a season in which she averaged 20.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 steals, and 2.8 assists across 21 games, the Queens native was named a CUNYAC All-Star for the second consecutive year. Gumbs also shot 34.4 percent (139-of-404) from the field and 67.2 percent (123-of-183) from the free-throw line, while logging an impressive 39.6 minutes per game.

Consistently attracting double teams, the two-time CUNYAC Preseason Player to Watch accounted for 49.6 percent of the team's points and 44.3 percent of its assists. Gumbs reached the 20-point mark 11 times, earning one CUNYAC Player of the Week Honorable Mention and four MBWA weekly honors. In a game against Centenary University on December 11, Gumbs became the 11th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. Her legendary career total of 1,316 points ranks third all-time at York.

Per the CUNYAC hierarchy, she ranked among the league leaders in minutes per game (1st), points per game (4th), steals per game (5th), assists per game (11th), rebounds per game (22nd), free-throws made (123, 4th), and field goals made (6th).

Among all Division III players, Gumbs led the nation in minutes, ranked 21st in points per game, and finished 40th in steals per game. At the charity stripe, Gumbs canned the 30th-most free throws in the nation.
