BOX SCORE JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer returned to non-conference play Thursday afternoon with a home battle versus the Five Towns College Sound (2-2-2). After a tense 90 minutes with both squads having great chances at goal, the Sound emerged victorious 2-0 from York College Outdoor Athletic Complex. 

First-Half Breakdown
The Cardinals attacked early, generating four shots in the opening seven minutes. Defending well and playing on the counter attack, Five Towns took the lead at the 12:57 mark mark after Triniti Hymes-Richardson pounced on a long ball from Chelsea Martinez. Neither team recorded a shot until the 29th minute when York's Brithney Bielma tested Diamond Pertillar into making a save. York had the final 10 shots in the half, as Bielma and forward Zaria Neptune pressured, but could not breach the Five Towns net.

Second-Half Breakdown
A Cardinals flurry to open the frame, Neptune, Aisatou Diallo, and Stephanie Ramirez had solid looks on goal in the first nine minutes. Hymes-Richardson a chance in the 63rd minute to double the Sound's lead but came up empty. After more spirited minutes of defending, Chelsea Martinez extended the lead to 2-0 at the 74:29 mark. York could not break down the Five Towns low block in the final 15+ minutes, finalizing the 2-0 scoreline.

Inside the Box Score
In their most promising attacking display of the season, York owned the edge in shots (28-9), shots on target (8-3), and corners (8-3). Pertillar (2-1-2) controlled the six-yard area with eight saves, while Michelle Mancuso (0-3) recorded one save for York.
