FLUSHING, NY --- York College sophomore
Katryna Francois took home a pair of honors Friday, earning a Sportsmanship Team selection and an All-Star nod in the 400-meter event when the CUNYAC announced its 2023-24 Indoor Track & Field All-Star awards.
Competing in six meets, Francois had her breakout campaign, setting personal records in the 60-meter, 200-meter, 300-meter, and 400-meter races. Always setting a high bar, the Queens native garnered CUNYAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week (Feb. 5-11) for her performances at the Fastrack National Invite (Feb. 9) and 2024 Big Apple Invitational (Feb. 10). Her results in the 60-meter dash (8.53) and the 200-meter dash (27.78) ranked fifth and third respectively in the CUNYAC Indoor Performance List. Competing in her first conference championship event, Francois generated six points in the 200-meter event and eight points in the 400-meter event, where her record time of 1:06.49 earned an all-star nod. York has now garnered All-Star recognition in eight-straight seasons dating back to 2015-16, producing a total of 21 honorees.
The second-year sensation represented York on the eight-member Sportsmanship Team.
