FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College sophomore guard Aidony Nivar was named to the eight-member 2024-25 CUNYAC Men's Basketball Preseason Player to Watch list, announced by the league office. 

Appearing in 25 games in the 2023-24 campaign, Nivar averaged 14.2 points and shot a scorching 37.6 percent from downtown (4th in CUNAYC, 51st in NCAA Division III) on almost seven attempts per game.  Scoring 10+ points in 18 games and making over three triples on 10 occasions, Nivar's consistency helped him win a program record seven CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Awards and the 2023-24 CUNYAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year honor, York's fist since 2019.  Nivar ranked among the CUNYAC leaders in points (9th), steals (4th, 1.9), assists (21st, 2.1) 3-point field goals made (3rd, 2.6) and minutes per game (9th, 30.9).

Baruch College is the favorite to capture another regular season crown, while CCNY and Lehman College follow behind. The Cardinals' seven-game conference slate opens with a home bout against the Lightning on January 3.

The 2024 CUNYAC Championship will take place on February 22 (first round), February 25 (semifinals), and February 28 (finals), with the league champion receiving an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
