www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer took the field Friday afternoon against the University Valley Forge Patriots (1-13-0), falling 2-0 in a non-conference road encounter from UVF Soccer Field.
First-Half Breakdown
- Aisatou Diallo (0-4-0) was called into action early for York, steering away three shots in the first 19 minutes to keep the match goalless.
- Diallo came to the rescue again in the 18th and 27th, repelling two opportunities from Valley Forge's Leticia Sousa.
- Sousa would not be denied at the 35:34 mark, as her strike found the bottom corner to give the Patriots a 1-0 advantage for the game-winning goal.
- The Cardinals got in the shot column with 2:30 remaining in the half when Zaria Neptune forced keeper Abigail Wood into the save.
Second-Half Breakdown
- York had the first big chance of the period in the 56th minute, as Neptune's attempt from near the 18-yard box steered just wide.
- Just over two minutes later, Winfield Haller sent the ball into the net to double Valley Forge's lead.
- Keeping the Patriots at bay the rest of the half, York had opportunities from Alisha Adams in the 61st minute and Melanie Guerrero in the 73rd minute to halve the deficit but could not find the back of the net.
