York College junior center Mac-Dege Dessources posted a pair of double-doubles and was recognized Tuesday by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) as a Women's Basketball Divisions II-III Honorable Mention selection for games played January 31-February 6. The MBWA weekly honor was the third of Dessources' career.
Dessources averaged 19.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocks while shooting 47.3 percent (18-of-38) from the field in two games. She paced York with 25 points (12-of-16 FG), 14 rebounds, three blocks and three assists in a 69-54 home loss to Baruch College (Feb. 1). Dessources then registered her 35th career double-double (sixth of season), compiling 15 rebounds and 14 points to go along with one block in a 59-48 setback at home to John Jay College (Feb. 3).
Prior to scoring a program-best 43 points and pulling down 25 rebounds in Monday's 77-59 CUNYAC win at Baruch College, Dessources was averaging a CUNYAC-leading 18.7 points and 2.6 blocks while knocking down 50.3 percent (81-of-161) from the floor. Dessources also produces 14.0 rebounds and 0.8 steals per contest in 10 games. She ranks among the NCAA Division III leaders in rebounds per game (6th), offensive rebounds per game (4th, 5.5), defensive rebounds per game (18th, 8.5), points per game (41st) and field-goal percentage (55th).
