www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball is primed to take the court Sunday (Feb. 20) as the No. 3 seed in a return to CUNYAC Championship play for the first time since the 2015-16 season. The Cardinals (12-10) will host a first-round matchup against the No. 6 City College of New York Beavers (7-16) at 3 p.m. inside York College Gymnasium. York has won four-straight against CCNY, including a 68-50 victory at home on February 9, and a 77-71 road win on January 14.
The Cardinals put together a 12-10 record in the regular season and enter Sunday with a four-game winning streak, including victories in seven of the last eight. York generated its highest-win total since 2014-15, when the Cardinals went 14-14.
Featured a balanced offensive attack that featured four scorers in double-figures, paced by senior guard
Quran Dublin, who averages a team-leading 21.9 points to a lineup that ranks 31st in the nation with 83.7 points per game. Dublin, a two-time CUNYAC Player of the Week selection also provides the Cardinals with 5.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.1 steals in 35.9 minutes per contest.
Mambe Koureissi (15.2 points),
Devine Chisholm (13.5 points) and
Donald Hartley Jr. (13.0 points) round out York's high-scoring offense. The Cardinals shoot a CUNYAC-leading 33.5 percent from 3-point range and 71.6 percent from the free-throw line while ranking 17th in the nation with 373 made free-throws.
On the glass, York leads the CUNYAC with a +6.0 rebounding margin and ranks sixth in the nation with 45.8 rebounds per game, led by the duo of Koureissi and
Guillermo Hernandez, who grab 10.1 and 9.8 boards, respectively.
The Cardinals also rank top-3 in the CUNYAC in scoring (2nd), scoring margin (3rd, +2.9), field-goal percentage (2nd, 45.7), opponent field-goal percentage (3rd, 40.8) and rebounds per game (2nd).
The winner of Sunday's first-round tilt will play again Wednesday (Feb. 23) in the CUNYAC semifinals against the winner of Saturday's matchup between No 2 Baruch College Bearcats and No. 7 Medgar Evers College Cougars. From there, the title game will be hosted by CCNY next Friday (Feb. 25) at 8:30 p.m. inside Nat Holman Gymnasium.
