Mac-Dege Dessources recorded a pair of double-doubles (11 on the season) last week and was recognized Tuesday by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) as a Women's Basketball Divisions II-III Honorable Mention selection for games played January 27-February 2.
Dessources produced game highs in scoring and rebounding in two contests to average 22.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.5 steals last week. She scored a career-high 28 points (11-of-19 FG) and grabbed 21 rebounds to go along with one block and one steal on the road against Hunter College to post her first-career 20-point, 20-rebound double-double. Dessources then registered a double-double in the opening quarter and finished with 17 points (8-of-18 FG), 18 rebounds, five blocks , two steals in leading York to a dominating 58-16 win versus Lehman College.
The Harlem native is averaging 13.4 points, 13.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in 19 contests. Dessources leads the CUNYAC in double-doubles, rebounds per game, rebounds (251), blocks per game and blocks (37) while ranking among the league leaders in points per game (14th), points (14th, 255), field goal percentage (3rd, 48.8%), made field goals (6th, 104) and made free-throws (15th, 46). In the latest NCAA Rankings Summary, Dessources ranks among the nation's leaders in rebounds per game (6th), rebounds, (7th), offensive rebounds per game (13th, 5.0) defensive rebounds per game (18th, 8.2) and double-doubles (19th).
Dessources and the Cardinals (7-12, 4-6 CUNYAC) travel Tuesday (Feb. 4) to Staten Island close out a season series with the College of Staten Island Dolphins (11-8) starting at 5:30 p.m. inside CSI Sports & Recreation Center.
