MANHATTAN --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball gave back to the community Saturday afternoon by volunteering at the third annual Force Family Fun Day hosted by New York City Department of Parks & Recreation at Chelsea Recreation Center in Manhattan.
York head men's basketball coach
Nolan Adams and assistant coach
Jamel Gist, along with student-athletes
Devine Chisholm,
Jean-Luc Etienne, DJ Hartley,
Luca Tamer and
Akil Vaughn enjoyed positive interactions with children and families during a day of Star Wars-themed activities that included a movie, face painting, meet and greet with Star Wars characters, and a Force Training class to become an honorary Jedi.
Members of the men's basketball program assisted the event organizers with registration and check-in, as well as facilitate various activities and distribute refreshments.
"This was a great way for our student-athletes to give back to the community," said Adams. "A positive and productive community experience such as this event with NYC Department of Parks & Recreation is invaluable to our program. It meant a lot for our group to see joy fill the children's faces as our student-athletes will remember this community service act for a long time."
