Women’s Soccer Falls to Lehman College, 3-0, in CUNYAC Opener

BOX SCORE
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Playing in it's first CUNYAC match of the year, the York College women's soccer team took on Lehman College on Wednesday night, but ultimately came up short, losing 3-0 to the Lightning.

The Cardinals kept it close for the most part of the first half up until the 35th minute when Ana Lopes followed through on a rebound shot from Renee Taylor, to put Lehman up 1-0.  Lopes would again find the back of the net just six minutes later off of an assist from Lillian Barreto to put Lehman up 2-0 before the half and give Lopes her second goal of the night.

Juliana Generoso would score two minutes into the second half with a header off of a cross from Samantha Dias to give Lehman a 3-0 lead.

Despite the loss, York's Kiara Libreros had another good match for the Cardinals, recording 14 saves—one of which was a diving stop on a penalty kick midway through the second half.

Lehman College's record now stands at 4-1-1, 1-0 CUNYAC while York falls to 0-4, 0-1 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will be looking to get their first win this Saturday, September 20 against Medger Evers College. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. at the Aviator Field.
