Balanced Effort Leads to Easy Win for Men’s Basketball over Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The York College men's basketball team had many big contributors in a dominant, 90-60, win over conference-rival Medgar Evers College on Friday night. 
 
Four players for York scored in double figures, led by senior Michael Woods, who finished with 28 points and four steals on 8-of-14 shooting.  Junior point guard Du'Quan Lawson established a new career-high in assists, dropping 12 dimes, while also scoring seven points.  Omar St. John (18 points), Jaron Williams (15 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks) and Donald Rodriguez (10 points, 8 boards) also had big nights in the win.  
 
As a team, York controlled all aspects of the game.  They shot 50 percent from the field, while holding the Cougars to just 30 percent shooting and forcing 23 turnovers. 
 
The Cardinals were never threatened, quickly jumping out to a double-digit advantage less than six minutes into the game, before closing the half with an 18-3 run to go up by 25.  In the second half, the Cardinals would extend their lead to as many as 36 points.  
 
With the win, York improves to 15-7 overall and 10-3 in the CUNYAC. Medgar Evers drops to 2-19, 1-11 CUNYAC.  The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday with a home game against Lehman College at 8 p.m. Admission to the game is free!
