NEW YORK, N.Y.— The York College men's basketball team continued its strong play, winning its fourth straight game, as they topped conference-foe Hunter College, 92-78 on Friday night.
The Cardinals dominated play in the opening half, outscoring the Hawks, 43-27. The game was close in the opening minutes, with the Cardinals holding an 11-6 advantage. But over the next six minutes, York outscored Hunter, 20-7 to go up 31-13 with 10 minutes left in the half. From there, York maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the way, leading by as many as 27 points in the second half.
Michael Woods, who entered the week ranked fourth in NCAA Division III in scoring, had another big output, scoring 38 points to go along with four assists. He picked up a big chunk of his points from the charity stripe, as he connected on 12-of-15 shots from the free throw line.
Jaron Williams also had one of his best games of the year, as he added 19 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Omar St. John chipped in 15 points, ten boards and six assists.
Hunter was led by Jerrell Antley, who finished with 26 points and by Lester Anim, who netted 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
York is now 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the CUNYAC, while Hunter is 6-7 overall and 3-3 in CUNYAC play.
The Cardinals will visit John Jay College on Monday at 7 p.m.
