Women’s Soccer Struggles in Opener at Mount Saint Vincent

YONKERS, N.Y.— The York College women's soccer team had a rough go of things in its 2013 opener, losing on the road to the College of Mount Saint Vincent by a score of 6-0 on Tuesday evening.
Mount Saint Vincent controlled the action throughout, outshooting the Cardinals by a 29-2 margin and holding a 19-2 advantage in shots on goal.
They broke through on their fourth shot of the match when Vanessa Cornacchio scored unassisted in the tenth minute. About ten minutes later, Mandy D'Amico made it 2-0 in favor of the Dolphins, when she scored off a cross from teammate Allison Bhadal. MSV would add two more first-half goals, one at the 28th minute by Charlotte Barnham and one in the 30th minute from Erica Lencsak. The Dolphins scored two more quick goals coming out of the second half to round out the scoring.

Shanique Hill, despite allowing six goals, was busy all night and turned away 13 shots.
York (0-1) will visit Sarah Lawrence College on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
