Women’s Basketball Uses Balanced Effort to Top CCNY

JAMAICA, NY.— The York College women's basketball team avenged a one-point loss to the City College of New York from earlier in the season, as they picked up a 65-55 win over the Beavers on their home court Monday night.
York got contributions from many players in the win, led by
Ishonda McFarland who had one of her best efforts of the season, scoring 21 points, grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out three assists and nabbing a career-high seven steals.
Nia Rene netted 11 points and
Danielle Dunn had ten points and eight rebounds.
Stayce Kay Muirhead, who ranked 16
th in the country in rebounding coming into the week, pulled down 15 more boards and scored eight points.
The Cardinals forced 24 turnovers in the match-up and held the Beavers to just 33 percent shooting. They also out-rebounded the Beavers by a nine-point margin. They converted turnovers into 20 points and had 14 second-chance points.
CCNY was led by Bria Fishher, who finished with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The loss drops CCNY to 4-17, 4-10 in the CUNYAC, while York improves to 2-20, 2-11 in the CUNYAC. The Cardinals will visit Hunter College on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
