Women’s Basketball Drops Regular Season Finale to Lehman College

BRONX, N.Y. – The York College women's basketball team closed the 2012-13 regular season with an 80-58 loss to Lehman College on Tuesday evening.
 
York was done in by a tough first half where they were outscored by a 49-22 margin.  York shot just 29 percent in the opening half, while Lehman was lights out, shooting 50 percent from the field.  The Cardinals regrouped in the second half to outscore Lehman, but the damage had already been done.
 
York had no answer for Lehman's Keonti Powell, who had 32 points, 15 rebounds and five assists.  Jasmin Castro-Lopez netted 23 points and Jennifer Navarro, who burned York with a buzzer-beater in the last meeting, finished with 15 points. 
 
The Cardinals were paced once again by senior Ishonda McFarland, who netted 10 points and 13 rebounds. Shanelle Baldwin finished with a team and career-high 12 points and Aimee Aikens chipped in ten points.  Stayce Kay Muirhead had eight points and ten rebounds, while Danielle Dunn scored eight points and pulled down eight boards. 
 
The Cardinals finish the regular season with a record of 3-22, 3-13 in the CUNYAC. Lehman improves to 5-20, 5-11 in the CUNYAC.  However, York has earned the final playoff spot and will visit Baruch College in the quarterfinals on Saturday.  The time of that game has yet to be announced.
