Women's Basketball Falls to Baruch

JAMAICA, N.Y.- The York College women's basketball team fell to Baruch College, 78-51 on Friday night.

The Cardinals gave Baruch a challenge in the first half as they trailed by just six points, 25-19, following a three-pointer by
Aimee Aikens with 6:28 left in the opening half.  York rallied from a rough start, when they trailed 19-4 at the 14:34 mark.Â

But Baruch would prove to be too strong for York as the Bearcats extended their lead to 14 points at halftime. In the second half, Baruch put the game away as they outscored York 37-24 and won by a wide margin.

The Cardinals were led by
Angelika Ruggiano who netted a career-high 20 points and connected on 4-of-6 from three-point range.Â
Shanelle Baldwin finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Baruch had a balanced attack and was led by Alicea Ulmer who had 18 points. Francess Henry added 15 and Iyana Abrams finished with 12.Â

The Bearcats improve to 6-1, 4-0 in the CUNYAC, while York drops to 1-8, 0-3 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will be idle until after the New Year when they will visit the College of Mount Saint Vincent on January 3. Â
