Five Players Reach Double Figures in Points as Men’s Basketball Tops CCNY

NEW YORK, NY—The York College men's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack, with five players recording double figures in points to top the City College of New York, 78-69, on Tuesday evening at the Nat Holman Gymnasium in Harlem.
Tony Vails once again led the way for York, netting 22 points, while grabbing nine rebounds. Vails picked up half his points from the free throw line, connecting on 11-of-13 shots from the charity stripe.
Shamir Wilkinson recorded a double-double, with 14 points and 11 boards, while swatting three shots.
Jose Arroyo added 12 points, six boards and six assists,
Thomas Hart had 11 points and seven boards and Terrell Roper finished with ten points.
York led for nearly the entire contest, trailing only after the opening bucket of the contest. The Cardinals led by as many as 15 points on the evening, and although CCNY made a few runs to get close, they could never get closer than four points.
The Beavers got 22 points and ten boards from Anthony Lewis in a losing effort and 14 points from both Brandon Reeves and Zachary Heiss.
York improves to 7-6, 3-2 in CUNY Athletic Conference play, while CCNY drops to 4-10, 0-6 in the CUNYAC. York will host Hunter College on Friday at 8:00 p.m. Admission to the game is free!
