Vails Nets 31 Points but York Can’t Stop Hot-Shooting Staten Island

BOX SCORE
JAMAICA, N.Y. – York College senior Tony Vails recorded a game-high 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting, while adding four steals and three assists but it would not be enough to slow down a talented College of Staten Island team, as the Cardinals men's basketball team fell by a score of 75-66 on Wednesday evening.

Staten Island was impressive from the field, converting 47 percent (27-of-53) of its field goals and shooting 56 percent (10-of-18) from three-point range.  Bloochy Magliore put up an outstanding effort, netting 28 points, making six three-pointers and converting all eight of his free throw attempts.  He also added four assists and two steals. Dylan Bulger finished with 18 points and nine boards and Jon Chadwick-Myers also recorded 18 points.

CSI led for nearly the entire contest, trailing only briefly in the opening minutes.  Though York stayed within striking distance they could never get over the hump as the Dolphins strong shooting kept the Cardinals from making a run.

York's Shamir Wilkinson recorded a double-double, netting 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds and Terell Roper finished with nine points.

The loss drops York's record to 8-10, 4-5 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, while Staten Island improves to 13-3, 8-1 in the CUNYAC.  York will return to action next Monday with a home game against rival Brooklyn College at 8:00 p.m.
