Women’s Soccer Roughed Up by NJCU

BOX SCORE
MASPETH, N.Y.— The York College women's soccer team had no answers for New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon, losing by a score of 7-0 in non-conference action.

The Gothic Knights featured a relentless attack and put pressure on the Cardinals' defense all afternoon long.  NJCU totaled 32 shots on the day, 20 of which were on goal.  Despite the pressure, York kept it scoreless for the first 24 minutes of the game.

But things turned quickly, as NJCU scored four goals in a ten-minute span starting at the 24:26 mark.  NJCU's Kaitlyn Lima scored two of those goals during the run.  Then in the 43rd minute, NJCU added another goal to make it 5-0 before halftime.  NJCU keeper Brittany Hoffman assisted on two of those first-half goals, thanks to two long goal kicks that found an NJCU scorer in York's territory.  The Gothic Knights would add two late second-half goals to round out the scoring.

With the loss, York drops to 2-6-1, while NJCU improves to 4-6-2.  The Cardinals will host SUNY Maritime on Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Aviator Field in Brooklyn.
