QUEENS, N.Y.— The York College softball team struggled offensively, losing a pair of games to SUNY Cobleskill by scores of 10-1 and 8-0 on Friday afternoon.
York was held to just four hits combined in the two games. Meanwhile, Cobleskill combined for 22 hits in the two games to account for the lopsided score.
Despite the losses, York pitcher Michelle DeLeon once again pitched well enough to win in game two but was victimized by three York errors, which led to seven of her eight runs allowed being unearned. York's only run of the day came on an RBI ground out by
Krystina Rivera, which scored
Danielle Dunn, who had singled earlier in the inning.
Nicole Gannon tossed a one-hitter for Cobleskill in game two to lead the Fighting Tigers. On offense, Cobleskill was led by Kelsey Dezalia who was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs in game one, and by Tomi-Lee Springer who was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs in the nightcap.
York falls to 5-17, while Cobleskill improves to 11-11. The Cardinals will visit Brooklyn College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
