Women’s Basketball Struggles from the Field in Loss to Brooklyn

JAMAICA N.Y—The York College women's basketball team struggled to find the bottom of the net Wednesday, as a tough Brooklyn College team stifled their offense and defeated the Cardinals by a score of 72-42.
 
York was held to just 24 percent shooting from the field and turned the ball over 25 times.  Meanwhile, Brooklyn was solid from the field, shooting 42 percent, while knocking down 48 percent of its three point attempts. 
 
The Bulldogs were led by Lauren Plagainos who finished with 20 points, with 18 of those coming on six three-pointers.  Charnelle St. Laurent added 11 points and Nicole Francomano added nine points and nine assists.
 
York was led by Shadae Rice, who had 17 points and three assists and by Joanna Josama who finished with 16 points, 11 boards and four steals.
 
Brooklyn improves to 17-6, 10-0 in the CUNYAC, while York drops to 3-19, 2-8 in conference play.  The Cardinals will visit CCNY on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
