Women’s Basketball Ousted by Brooklyn in CUNYAC Quarterfinals

BROOKLYN, N.Y— The York College women's basketball team saw its season come to an end on Sunday as the Cardinals fell to Brooklyn College, 63-25, in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC/ Con Edison Women's Basketball Championship.
The Bulldogs were able to control the game despite shooting just 30 percent because they dominated on the glass. Brooklyn grabbed 60 rebounds compared to just 35 for York. The Cardinals were also done in by turnovers, as they gave the ball away 33 times. In addition, York struggled mightily from the field, shooting just 19 percent.
Brooklyn was led by Charnelle St. Laurent, who finished with a game-high 21 points. Lauren Plagianos added 17 points.
Shadae Rice was York's leading scorer, netting ten points.
Ishonda McFarland pulled down a game-high 11 boards for the Cardinals.
Brooklyn (20-6) now advances to the semifinals at the City College of New York on Wednesday. York ends its season with a record of 3-22.
