Women’s Basketball Closes Conference Portion of Schedule with Loss to CCNY

NEW YORK N.Y— The York College women's basketball team closed out the CUNY Athletic Conference portion of its schedule Saturday afternoon in disappointing fashion, losing to the City College of New York by a score of 68-49.
The Beavers shot 48 percent from the field and four players reached double figures in points. Donika Rexhepi led all scorers with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Syreeta Williams added 16 points and nine boards.
The Cardinals won the turnover battle in this game by a margin of six but were killed on the glass. CCNY grabbed 57 rebounds to just 29 for York. The Beavers also held York to 30 percent shooting on the evening.
Despite the loss, York had three players in double figures.
Shadae Rice had 13 points and
Ishonda McFarland and
Joanna Josama each had 10 points.
CCNY improves to 5-19, 3-8 in the CUNYAC, while York drops to 3-20, 2-9 in the CUNYAC. York will close the regular season on Monday with a 6:00 p.m. home game against SUNY Old Westbury.
