Women’s Basketball Has No Answer for Baruch

NEW YORK, NY—The York Cardinals women's basketball team took a tough, 82-33, loss to Baruch College Tuesday night.  York could not overcome the Bearcats offense all game.

York had trouble breaking the press defense put on by Baruch early. The Bearcats started the game on an 8-2 run and never looked back. 

Senior guard Ishonda McFarland led the Cardinals with 15 points, while adding nine rebounds and two assists. Sophomore center Stayce Kay Muirhead had a game-high 16 rebounds, while also dropping 11 points.  The team shot 17% from the field in the first half and 21% for the game.

The Bearcats (7-0) led 50-12 at halftime and had 24 points off of York's turnovers. Freshman guard Jasmine Smarr had a game-high 16 points and senior guard Jessica Duleba added 14 points with 13 rebounds.

York (0-9) returns to action after the coming holidays when they take on Rutgers-Newark on January 2 at 4:30 pm.
