CCNY’s Rexhepi Scores 38 to Lead Beavers over Lady Cardinals

JAMAICA, NY— CCNY'S Donika Rexhepi scored 38 points on 14-22 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the City College of New York to a 80-64 victory over the York College women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon.
Rexhepi scored 19 in each half, was 7-7 from the charity stripe and shot 64 percent from the field to propel the Beavers to the win. CCNY jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the start and never relinquished the lead. CCNY held a comfortable lead throughout the first half and score the final four points of the opening frame to go up 45-31 at halftime.
York mounted a rally in the second half and closed to within three points (53-50) after York got consecutive three-pointers from Elizabeth Padilla and Shadae Rice at the 14:08 mark. That would be as close as the Lady Cardinals could get though, as CCNY scored the next six points to go up back up by nine points with 13:01 to play. The Beavers then poured it on from there and led by double-digits for nearly the remainder of the game.
York was led by Maimouna Dabo and Rice who each scored 15 points. Rice also added seven boards and six assists. Padilla finished with 11 points and Shadaea Green added ten. CCNY also got14 points from Syreeta Williams and 13 points from Simone Tharkur.
York falls to 9-15, 6-6 in the CUNYAC, while CCNY improves to 5-20, 3-10 in confence play. York will close out the regular season on Monday when they host Hunter at 6:00 p.m.
